Flying solo with 2 babies on Monday...I'm anxious!

I'm hoping for some strategies/suggestions on how to make the transition from looking after 1 progeny to 2.

I've been on mat leave with my newborn DS for 5wks and 2yo DD has been going to nursery for most of that time. We're reducing her days at nursery to 2 per week, starting Monday, so I'll be in charge of a 2yo and 5wk old by myself for the first time.

I'm absolutely petrified quite anxious.

I've been doing fine with the sleep deprivation, anaemia, DS's constant breastfeeding and DD's increase in temper tantrums until now, but today it's properly hit me how hard it will be!

So what I'd like to know is how did/do you manage to keep everyone alive and relatively sane all day? What strategies can I put in place?

More screen time than usual. Easy meals for toddler (and you). Get out of the house if you can or invite someone round. Going to play dates/toddler group saved me as someone can hold the baby or help your older one if you need it. My friend swore by a bag of toys that her toddler only got while she was feeding the baby. Try and get the baby used to napping without you, or put them in a sling. Prioritise your older ones nap time or enforce quiet time! Good luck

Yes a circuit of toddler groups if at all possible.

I'd also suggest making lunch for you both the night before so if the baby is tricky you're just getting it out the fridge.

I personally embraced slings after having to abandon dd2 in the buggy to chase after dd1.

I thought from the title you were undertaking an ambitious bit of air travel. At least it won't be as bad as that. I am pregnant with number 2 and this will be me in a few months so I'm watching with interest for tips!
