My DS is 5 and still occasionally wets himself during the day Blush is this normal? We've been to gp and everything was clear, gp said some children take longer. DH thinks it's normal but I feel he's getting too old. How old was your DC when they stopped having the occasional accidents? Thank you

My eldest is nearly 5 and still has quite a few accidents, mainly at school and because he becomes immersed in his activities and forgets to go. Hope it is normal!

Hello. We have this with our daughter (same age). We saw a series of doctors who fobbed us off and eventually saw a paediatrician who specialises in this kind of thing. Let me know if you want her details - in London. She said that the bladder is a muscle and needs to be stretched with as much water as possible during the day (bottles-worth) make sure they take a bottle to school and incentivise them to drink it all during the day plus more when they are with you. This stretches the bladder and teaches it to hold on and teaches the sensation of needing to go. Best of luck with it.

Oh sorry one more thing. Constipation can place pressure in the bladder too so make sure they aren’t constipated - try a prune pouch every day.

We’ve just about got our dd dry. I think she was being a bit lazy as we’d used pully ups for so long at night. She was dry in day mostly. Occasionally with distraction she’d wet herself. There can be all sorts of reasons. It’ll happen in its own time.

My dd is 8 and still has accidents. Once a week. I've never taken her to Doctor. It gets less and less and less over time. So I guess by the time she's 18 she'll be fine Grin
