Which are the best pocket nappies??

I really want to have a go at reusables, and think that pocket nappies will be best for us ( quick to dry as no tumble dryer, not too bulky) but I'm not having much luck. Have tried second hand Fuzz Bunz - elastic had gone and it leaked around the legs. Now I've tried second hand Nature Babies Stuffables, old style, and they are wicking. Do I just need to be brave and buy some new ones?? What brand does everyone recommend?? Also, what inserts are best? I've got some micro inserts but even with 2 my boy leaked within 3 hrs in the day time. He's around 17lb. Thanks in advance......

Everyone will give you a different favourite, I like Wonderoos (although a lot of people don't) and Fuzzis. Am just waiting for some Pea Pods to come in and will be trialing them on my 8 week old and my two year old so will let you know how we get on with them.

As for inserts, I never use microterry, always hemp

Jojay · 06/05/2007 17:34

Thanks for that - I'vre heard the new Wonderoos are better than the old ones so maybe we'll give them a try. Any other opinions out there? DS is of average build and 17lb

Happy Heinys for me everytime and they always seem popular with other users although i have had some success with my newly stocked wonderoos as well. Hemp inserts last longer i agree, i was put of with the priming them but its worthwhile and in a heiny they make it less bulky. Drybees are as good and very similar design to Heinys.

Weenotions.

After that fuzzis or swaddlebees.

nappyzone · 06/05/2007 18:33

wow! snugglebum just realised you have a 8 week old and a business! i thought i was mad running one with a nearly 6 month old! i take my hat of to you!

nappyzone · 06/05/2007 20:46

i gotta get a wee notion but theres too much choice! picked my deisgn then realised it was velboa and not fleece and now im all in a pickle again as i dont know the difference!

Flamesparrow · 06/05/2007 20:51

Mine's velboa - its sort of like soft, short furry (kinda like a shorthaired cat).

I want the rocket one but can't justify it!!!

ravenAK · 06/05/2007 20:55

Heinies, definitely. Bearbehinds are fantastically cute, but ds took to pulling the velcro open - I'd get them again but get popper style.

nappyzone · 06/05/2007 21:40

flame and how does that bode reliable wise ? i fancied the giaraffe looking one and a fleece blue paws one and oh yeah i like that alien one too but im flat broks so will see if i have any spens left after my hols - maybe i could justify it as a demo !

mummy2aaron · 06/05/2007 21:45

Can I had my faves, Heiney's Wonderoos and Fuzzi's, Swaddlebees were disappointing.

nappyzone · 06/05/2007 21:51

my swaddlebees pocket with o/v leaked first outing after ten mins and i wasnt impressed and the insert seemed way to big but a few washes later and it is performing well but still not my fave.

TheodoresMummy · 06/05/2007 21:53

I always found Minki pockets to be ultra reliable for no leaks, but they aren't very slim fitting.

Weenotions pockets were also fab, but may take a few goes to get the leg elastic adjusted just right. They are slimmer and soooooo cute.

kittypants · 06/05/2007 22:01

minki for me,gives them big bum but i quite like that.got fuzzi but dont really like it!
if looking for quick drying, have you considered terries and wrap?weve just stopped using them as ds is fidget but so easy to use once your use to them, cheap, reliable and easy to wash/dry.

Jojay · 07/05/2007 08:22

I'm having trouble convincing DH that reusables are the way forward - I think terries might just be a step too far!! Also have childminder, MIL etc to think of......

It seems like Heiny's are winning at this stage!!!

Jojay, my Wonderoos are just over two years old and are great, have had no probs with them. A lot of people were unhappy with Wonderoos they bought about 6-12 months ago (before the new Hip Hip Baby ones), problems ith the PUL and elastic. The response I am getting about the new ones is that customers love them, however, as you can see, I think pocket nappiesare the one sort of nappy that divide peoples opinions so much! One thing I would say is if you do buy a Wonderoo to try make sure it'a a Hip Hip Baby one or you may be disappointed

Nappyzone, yeah I must be mad! I made the decision not to take any maternity leave as we have only been up and running for two years and I felt we coud ruin the buisness by closing for a few months.

Am also looking at the wee notions, fancy getting DD a wrap with her name on and the flowes. Also love the cow one .

Flamesparrow · 07/05/2007 09:38

Nappyzone - they all have a PUL inner anyway, so the outer is just for show and doesn't affect its reliability
