Does anyone have some suggestions on how to calm young children without plonking them in front of the tv?
We have a 4 yo girl and a 2 yo boy. Once they wake in the morning (usually before 6am) they are up, lively and really excitable. We are away for the weekend and, while I know they are excited, it’s become clear that their noise volume and ‘need’ for being entertained is higher than we had thought.

I would really like some techniques that I can use to enable them to relax, preferably in bed so that they can both have a calm and positive start to the morning (for all 4 of us, not just them)!

Thanks x

Books? Pop up books? Audio books? Games on phone/tablet? Travel games (4yo)?
Do the people you are staying with not have children? Sure they would understand - if you are close enough to stay, you are close enough to say "I'll be needing to get up at 6 to see to dc. But obviously wouldn't expect you to get up also?"
