Ugh!....big row last night!
Myself, dh, teen daughter, little boy sitting down to dinner.
Dh pipes up stipulating his ‘No mobile phones at dinner table rule’ , teen daughter is about to switch the thing off.....suddenly dh pulls out his paper and lays the sports page over half the table?! Well....teen daughter was having none of that ,if he’s reading his paper, she can go on her phone....so continued on her phone.....loud words were spoken from both parties!!
So I piped up saying really no phones or papers should be on table at dinner. Daughter said her Dad should set the example and take the paper off! He says ‘My house, my rules, respect your parents!’ So he storms off into kitchen and eats his dinner there.
I’m with my daughter on this one, but what does everyone else think??

Yep, I'm with you. You can't say one thing and do another.

She’s right. He can’t have it both ways.

Both phones and newspapers at the dinner table are rude.

Your daughter was right and your DH was rude. Neither should be on th3 table.
