6 year old global development delay, need some hope

Hi everyone, so a little bit of back ground son was diagnosed in reception (age 4) with global development delay. He was developmentally behind with everything but was still a lovely polite boy that everyone loved. As he got older the behaviour side has got worse and seems he is going backwards. He will ask the same question over and over again, even when you have answered he will keep asking, if something is happening he will ask constantly about it and again no matter how many times we answer it doesn't register.
He has got so dis obedient and naughty, worse than a 2 year old.
For example last night I was feeding the baby and he went into the toilet and decides the brand new soap I got would go down the toilet.
Then bed time came, he had been upstairs for all of 5 minutes and decided to colour with blue felt tip all up his leg and hand.
I'm really starting to worry about his future, this is not normal behaviour for a nearly 7 year old and I'm at my witts end Confused

That's just a few little things, he's far from daft he knows what he's doing as he's 10 times worse when my partners at work. It has got to the point he stands and grins at me when I try set boundaries, he's now rebelling against punishment, when we tell him naughty step he will point blank refuse to go, when he does go he won't sit quiet he will continue to talk and mess about, despite being told it's only 6 minutes if he's quiet and does it. Taking kindle and treats away isn't working now either.

I'm hoping for any advise at all on anyone who has been or going through this too, before I lose my marbles.
Xx

There is an SEN board with lots of helpful people. That might be more helpful.

Sounds like you are having a really tough time. I agree that the SEN board might be the best place to post. There’s usually lots of supportive MNers in there Smile
