Weaning from bottle to sippy cup for milk?

My little boy turned 1 a few days ago. I'm now trying to switch to cows milk and with a sippy cup. The change to normal milk will be fine but the transition from bottle to cup...not so much. He currently has two bottles a day (first thing and before bed). We tried to introduce milk in the sippy cup in the day about a month ago but he was having none of it so we just gave a snack instead.

Now he's 1, I'm at a loss about how to transition to a cup? Hell drink water from a cup with no problems whatsoever, but will point blank refuse milk. Should I focus on the morning bottle first then the nighttime one, or just go cold turkey? He's a stubborn little thing so I'm worried that he won't have any milk if he refuses.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Why are you trying to ditch the bottles? My ds has his til he was 2 just first and last thing, water the rest of the time from a cup no issues.

With all three of mine, i just went cold turkey once they turned 1 and they all drank their milk with no issues. I just gave their bedtime milk with yheir evening meal and morning milk with breakfast.
I can't remember what cup my older two had but my youngest uses a nuby 360.

My DS1 never drank from a sippy cup - I tried loads! I didn’t want to give him a bottle (because he was EBF until 12 months and it seemed ridiculous to introduce bottles at that age) but I did want to stop breastfeeding. So, basically, he just didn’t drink very much for a couple of months! Then he got the hang of open cups and all was ok. In the mean time I made sure he had lots of calcium in his diet (cheese, yoghurt etc).

He had milk on cereal too.

I've swapped the morning bottle to a munchkin 360 cup (at 15 months) still has his bedtime bottle at the moment

I bypassed sippy cups with my younger 2 because I found them to be an expensive, unreliable pain. Tried lots of different types with my eldest and they all leaked in my handbag. So as soon as they could sit up I used a normal cup with my hand under their chin to begin with, to catch the dribbles. They soon got used to it.

But... if you're happy with bottles, don't stress it. Just like weaning/potty training/sleeping through the night/walking/talking etc etc everyone gets there in their own time, in their own way. The important thing to remember is, they all get there in the end, and once they are it really doesn't matter when or how.

PS he'll be fine even if he doesn't drink cows' milk. 2 of mine don't, never have, just because they don't like it. Some people say now cows' milk (especially if it's homogenised) isn't so very good for us anyway. I don't know about that, but I do know it definitely isn't essentially for healthy human survival.

My DS is 2 and only got rid of his bottles about a month ago. I tried a few times but he wouldn't drink milk from a sippy cup, eventually tried a beaker with a built in straw which he loves! So he has it in that now.
