Orchard games - your child’s favourites

Hi,

I have an almost 2.2 year old who only wants to play with cars/trains/vehicles (actually, that’s not quite true. He also loves books and outdoor/physical play) Anyway, I was thinking of getting him some first game and have heard good things about the orchard range. So far we have the farmyard heads and tales which he’s not that interested in.

So, any recommendations? Counting and colour recognition are not great yet so any that would promote these?

Thanks everyone.

Baa baa is a good color matching one.
Shopping list. We have played shopping list 126367 times this week. At least.
Knickerbocker Glory
Dominoes - there's one with magical creatures/witches/unicorns etc dd loves
Animal Snap

My DD (nearly 4) loves these. She's got:
Lunch Box, Bus Lotto, Where's My Cupcake, Post Box, Farm Compendium (3 in 1).

Stored away for her birthday/when she's older we've got:
Shopping List (with the two expansions), Pizza Pizza, Bus Stop (adding and subtracting), and two other mini ones that are similar to shopping list, where you have to collect the right cards for your board. We also have a very similar game by Galt called Where's My Mummy?

For his age I would recommend at least the Post Box one, even if he just likes posting the cards!

He's too little for shopping list yet. By 3 or 4 that one is good though. How about Dotty Dinosaurs? The basic jigsaw puzzles are good too - you can sit with him and talk about the colours.

My 2.5 year old loves shopping list and has been playing it for a few months at least!

From age 3 my DS loved the Rocket game, we still play it now on occasion and he's 7.

The Postbox game is great for teaching colours and other simple concepts such as taking turns with other players.

I can’t believe that Crazy Chefs has not got anyone’s vote! For a while it was the only game that the family would all play.

Then I tried to see if DS5 could get the hang of ‘Port Royal’ on holiday (not an Orchard game!). Now he can beat me pretty consistently. Might go back to Crazy Chefs for a bit until my bruised ego mends...

I can't believe how many people have said Shopping List! I came on specifically to say that, DS is obsessed with this game and has been for about a year (he is now 3.5)... It comes along on every holiday..

Quack Quack, bus stop and shopping list

My son would play 'Spotty Dogs' over and over again from 2.5-3.5. He loved it! To be honest all of them are lovely. There's a nice magic themed one we liked too but I can't remember the name.

At that age we we had Postbox & Knickerbocker glory, but any of the memory ones would be good. Ds is 6 soon and we still play them - particularly animal noises!

Magic cauldron? Another favourite of ours!
We have a lot of orchard games...

We played Tummy Ache from tiny to teens Smile

3 year old DS loved shopping list: will literally play it constantly if he had the choice. I swear I know those bloody lists off by heart now. The seaside travel dominoes are handy to for in your day bag and have been played many a time in a cafe/restaurant whilst waiting for food.

The build a beetle one is good!

Thewindsofchange · 02/03/2018 21:48

If he wants a cars/lorry game this one is good and is a colour match one.
