10 month old pinching and scratching!

Hi

My almost 10 month old son has started pinching and scratching my chest whenever he can. He has a strong grip and razor sharp nails no matter how much I cut and file them.
He is developing normally (although I think it's mega fast!) and I'm wondering if it's frustration or a need for more stimulation?

He goes swimming and to under 2's soft play, we play games, with toys and things like peek a boo. I read to him and he throws the books around and we walk the dog and sing.

Any advice please?

Is this during breastfeeding?

He is just exploring. Gently but firmly say no, we use gentle hands and stroke his hand gently.

@Peachesandcream15 No not during bf. He is formula fed now but it seems more frequent when he is getting tired. If I'm wearing high neck clothes he pinched and scratches st them sometimes wrapping his hand in the clothes but if I'm just wearing s vest or t-shirt he tries to do the same to my skin. It's very painful!

@Makingworkwork This is what I have been doing, sometimes stroking hands and fingers. I just wondered if there was a need not being met.
He's also going through a tantrum stage if he is told off or has something taken away so that's fun...

Is he scratching and hitting out when in frustrated or is he just exploring? My DD is nearly 2 and she some times randomly hits me and asks me if I am OK and there does not seem to be any pattern. I suspect he is just trying it out.

Just read your other post. My DD was only bf for six weeks but likes to stroke my delitage and boobs for comfort. Maybe try encouraging him to stroke you gentle on the skin where he like to scratch.
