how to get the hang of pooing in the potty?

Dd (2y6m) started potty training about three weeks ago and for wees has been fine- only 1 accident on day 1. She wears big girl pants and takes herself off to the loo/ potty without prompting. BUT we can't get the hang of poos at all. We have had only 1 poo on the potty (a fortnight ago) and since then she has pooed in her pants! This is quite embarrassing for us, as she saves it up all weekend, then has 3 accidents at nursery on Monday! When in nappies she used to poo every day or every other day, now she's going every three days...we've tried sitting her on the potty after meals (she won't sit long enough), bribing her with a promise of stickers if she can poo in the potty or loo (she understands, but just hasn't performed!) and asking her if she wants to go back into nappies (screams of NO!!! and a huge tantrum at the very thought!).

Any more ideas?

i have heard of this a few times... I think it is to do with the sensation of "letting go" (iyswim) and it scares them a bit... happened to my pals little girl- and she ended up making herself constipated (sorry not trying to alarm you)..
try and make sure that she is loose (lots of fibre!)so it isn't a strain... then maybe just give her something to do whilst she is sitting on potty so that all the attention isn't on "the movement"
Can't really say what my pal did other than that- but they got there in the end!!
Don't make it too much of an issue though (easier said I know) as once kids know they are getting you riled they will continue in their own stubborn little way!!
