Gift for toddler from baby and vice versa?

I'm 32w pregnant. Dc1 will be 2 years 2 months. We've not spoken much about baby but he definitely knows change is coming.
Can anyone recommend a nice gift from baby we can get him? I'm really struggling as he has lots of toys but to be honest he isn't interested in much but trains and cars which he has loads of! He would rather play hide and seek!

Also looking for a nice gift he can give baby . I like the idea of him making something and I thought a money box but then didn't know if he's a bit young for pottery painting? Are build a bears suitable for newborns?

Any advice welcome!

We don't know the sex of dc2.

Thanks

Hi there,
My Dd was 3.5 when DS arrived... Dd was very pleased to choose new baby grows for the baby (she did insist the baby was going to be a girl and so DSs first photos are all pink/purple baby grows). DS magically brought Dd a new train for her train set, which she was very happy with :-) Smile

Babies can’t buy presents.

You can take your toddler out to help choose a toy for the baby. Money boxes don’t really appeal to toddlers- a soft toy he can select is better.

I took the toddler out once the baby was a couple of months- went to build a bear and made a big fuss about getting her a present for being so patient with the baby, helping me etc.

I don’t really agree with babies “buying” presents. The new kitten didn’t buy a present when she arrived either...

We got a present from the new baby to my nearly 3 year old dd. Nothing sentimental, just some little dolls she liked to keep her happy.
She choose a nice teddy for the baby before she arrived which we will keep as a special teddy.

Reallyanotherone - I've not said about either buying a present. But they are capable of giving gifts. I'm just after ideas of gifts.

I think it's a nice idea....

Tinofbeans thanks for the suggestions, if i let dc1 choose an outfit then dc2 will probably be wearing a gruffalo outfit as a newborn :)

We got ds1 a guitar and keyboard when ds2 arrived! Very bad idea I don't know what I was thinking 🤦
