Taking newborn out in cold

Hi,

It's 3-5'C outside but a beautiful day and we really want to take our 11-day old out in the pram for a walk. It's quite windy and we are planning to wrap him up. He's pretty tiny, 3.3kg. Is it too cold for him?

Thanks!

it's fine if he's wrapped up.

Nope, hat and lots of layers and a blanket. It's good to get them out. If you go in somewhere remember to take some layers off so baby doesn't over heat.

Thank you. Does the "one extra layer than us" still apply or does he need more? Best, sleepsuit, padded sleepsuit and a blanket is what we are planning? And a hat.

Sorry, it's our fist trip in the pram and We're first time parents!

Sounds good, mittens as well if possible :)

Assuming his pramsuit is quite padded

Yes fine - normal clothes + padded sleep suit + blanket + hat and mittens too if you have some. Will be absolutely fine! Enjoy!

If you are quite outdoorsy a sling is a great bit of kit - I bought a huge-sized fleece gillet and wore it over both of us, so we shared body heat. DS was a winter baby but he was always toasty. Then when he was big enough to go on my back, I cut a hole in it for his head and carried on Grin

But I also used the pram and wrapped him up well, and he was always fine. Enjoy your walk!
