Parenting style

I've been reading about parenting styles today because tbh I want to be a better mother and I'm not sure my parenting style is how I want to be as a mother, and I certainly don't want to be perceived as the "strict" one and the least fun one.

I was reading wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parenting_styles and I think my parenting style fits into 'authoritarian', but I want to be my authoritative like my DP. His style seems to work so much better and my son responds to it better. Whereas with me, me and my son just end up shouting at each other and end up in a stalemate situation and I end up fuming because I want him to do what I'm telling him. I think I'm a bit of a control freak and perhaps that needs to change.

Thing is, I know this isn't going to be easy. Any tips?

Some times just emulating someone else style won’t work beacuse you are not them and you have a different relationship with your child.

Have you asked your DH?

How old is your child? What are you shouting at each other about? Shouting is not the mark of someone in authority.
