Clubs for Friendship

Evening. My son attends football groups and music but at these groups he's told 'what to do' rather than the kids being able to make friendships etc. He needs to make more friends as he's anxious. I tried beavers but the one we were 'allocated' was in all fairness rubbish and I'm unsure if I can ask if we can be reallocated a different branch (There tons in our area) to see if better. Or does anyone else have any other group ideas/suggestions regarding encouraging friendships. Unfortunately all my mummy friends live in Ireland so i'm no help!

Would he enjoy a drama group? How old is he OP? Is he having trouble making friends at school?

You can definitely be asked to be moved to a different Beavers group. DDs friend has just moved to a different Guides as the one she was allocated was a bit rubbish and she didn’t like the Leader.

I’m not sure starting new grouos solely with the view of making friends will work though. He needs to do things because he enjoys them and hopefully the friendships will follow. What sorts of things does he enjoy doing?

How does he get along at school? Has he got a friend that you could invite for tea?

You can chose whichever Beaver colony you want! They may not have space for your son to join right away, they may have a long waiting list, but there is no “catchment” as such.
