I am housebound atm, can't even walk let alone drive, due to large bandage on foot.

I have exhausted all my ideas for things we can do - we go out a lot normally, and in this weather would be at the park or taking DS out on his trike for a long walk.

Things we've done - possibly to death

Wtaer play
Jigsaws
Threading beads & otehr similar "quiet" actvities
Thomas TT on the PC
Play-do
Lego

Bearing in mind I need to be able to sit down to do stuff.

I have suggested colouring / sticking / crafty stuff but he has not wanted to but I think if I could make it very specific "lets sit down and make an xyz" he might be swayed...

????

have you got anything that you could sit down and make a rocket?? Ds love ding that out of boxes etc

julia5 · 02/05/2007 12:00

How about doing the covered tray with objects thingy? Put half a dozen items on a tray eg pen peg spoon thimble cover with acloth them sneak out an item ask DC to identify which is missing. My mindee age 20 months, non-verbal, loves this.
Or you could 'make' mummy a bracelet and necklace with pasta tubes and string. Sorry to hear you are laid up at the mo

Hairdressers?
Doctors? obviously you would be the patient

Beauregard · 02/05/2007 12:03

Put some food on a tray and supervise your ds to make lunch?

FrayedKnot · 02/05/2007 12:04

Have recently bought DS his first pair of real scissors, so not sure about hairdressers

I like the tray idea. he likes to do "spot the difference" between two pictures.

How about a good role play??

Mommy sits on sofa/chair (generally lounges) and is something that needs saving or has treasure.

Place cushions, tea towels or such on the floor. These are islands. Either he has to hop island to island to get to mommy or he has to navigate around them (crawling, on ride-on car, etc).

In my experience, this can go on for hours

Make a tent using a sheet draped over 2 chairs, let him have a picnic in the tent.

Twiglett · 02/05/2007 12:12

bake muffins

bake gingerbread men and then decorate them

Twiglett · 02/05/2007 12:13

TV

call a friend and ask if they can take him out

stick him in the garden with a bucket of soapy water and a cloth and some pots and get him to do the washing up

collision · 02/05/2007 12:13

Put CBeebies on and have a nap!

princesscc · 02/05/2007 12:16

Have you got any old greetings cards or even a couple of magazines? Do some cutting & sticking. Get him to match colours or types or animals maybe. Get him to cut up the Argos catalogue! Make a dream bedroom picture with furiture pictures and toys.

CookieBear · 02/05/2007 12:16

Hey FrayedKnot, how about a wall chart?
Made one with my dcs years ago and it was a huge success.
You need a big piece of card/back of an old poster and then divide it up into 26 sections for each letter of the alphabet.
Then all you have to do is set about cutting up magazines and get some family and friend's photos and off you go.
Great fun, educational too, and you can keep on adding to it.

Gawd, hope that makes sense!

CookieBear · 02/05/2007 12:17

oooo princesscc! great minds and all that!

FrayedKnot · 02/05/2007 12:41

Thanks for all teh ideas, I am feeling more inspired
Although I'm sure a bit of Cbeebies will be a given at some point, Twig
