As I have a 2,500 word assignment to be in by 5pm Friday

so far I have 350 words written.

I can't get the right words. I do know what I'm supposed to be doing, but I work better under pressure, which will mean leaving to to Thursday night & panicking, but I'm fed up doing that

It's cognitive psychology so anyone knows anything about visual imagery & the working memory, feel free to enlighten me

Hah! A girl in my class just emailed me about half an hour ago & asked if I had the question & if I knew what the reading list was, as she couldn't find her stuff!!

So at least I know I'm not the only one catching the last minute bus!

My exam last Tuesday was about cognitive psychology. I didn't study much on visual imagery ( would have loved to though )
Working memory, all about the central executive controlling the visuo-spatial sketchpad and phonological loop. Can't remember the strengths and weaknesses of it now. See, only a week ago and I have forgotton. Kept telling the lecturer that, I have no memory for memory . Anyhow, happy phonological looping.
You still have 3 days, loads of time .

Thanks colie.

It's more the exam I am worried about also. Our lecturer disappeared half way through the semester & never came back

So we have had to learn what we know from text books [I always ask what's the point of paying our fees if we have to learn everything from a book!!]

Anyway we had a crisis lecture yesterday by an amazing lecturer & it's extraordinary how different the same subject can be made just by a different lecturer! She was fantastic & not a coloured pen in sight! The last guy used OHP's & diff coloured pens!

Anyway, this isn't getting my essay written

anything you need to know just ask as weve been doing this for the past 5 weeks. Have you got the Gross book? theres a whole massive chapter in there about memory.

fireflyfairy2 · 02/05/2007 21:25

No busybean.

The question is:

To what extent is visual imagery an aspect of working memory?

I have done all the explanation of what working memory is, spatial scratchpad etc etc but I can't find enough info on visual imagery. The lecturer only did half a lecture on visual imagery & then never came back

We have been left high & dry this semester & there have been dozens upon dozens of complaints to the uni!

The book I have is "Cognitive Psychology: A student's handbook" By Eysenck & Keane.

I am only doing it at access level, but think our lecturer thinks she is a uni lecturer. Like yours, all she ever did was put up overheads and we copied.
My first essay, was a case of me having to read about 7 psychology books, and not one thing from her overheads. Exam pretty much the same.
I had to spend hours upon hours in the reference section, of my local library, using the 7 books they have there.
I have used the book that you have mentioned.
Hope you get something sorted.

hi,

I would recommend gathercole (1999) trends in cognitive psychology as a startingpoint - it gives an overview of research into working memory and might have some useful references in there. I can probably find the whole reference if that's not enough

Hope this helps...
