We moved to this area 2 years ago, I am a single parent and my son is 11.
When we first moved here i started to shop in the local charity shop at the top of our street quite a lot, my son hated the smell and used to call it "the pong shop". I was in there every other day or so and my son used to be really irritated by it but after a while I started to get to know the people that worked there hence me going in more.
My son never called it names in front of them, just when we got home.
Anyway this was 2 years ago and I at least have been a regular visitor since. My son is now 11 and has recently started playing out with friends since he started secondry school.
This morning I went for a quick stroll to the charity shop and noticed that someone had graffitied the wall at the front of the shop, amongst the slogans was "shitty pong shop". The poor old woman doesnt have a clue who's done it but IMO that phrase is far too much of a coincidence NOT to be my son?? my mum thinks I'm being harsh blaming him, what do you think? whoever did it has made a right mess of the shop.
