First time poster.. so please be gentle with me!

My other half and I are going to start trying for a baby later this year. I can totally imagine having a baby. The changes that will bring to our lives. I love all of my friends baby's and small children. But as they get older I find them so.. annoying/hard work/irritating. Though most of my friends with kids have children/babies under 5. So I'm not often around older children..

Does anyone else feel like this? Will I feel different when it's my child?

I love babies and toddlers and worried about mine growing up. Turns out 4 year olds are amazing too. He's my best friend. Such great company!

I'm so glad I'm not alone in my feelings. Smile

I suspect that, as you'll be with your own child every day, you won't notice the jump from baby/child/older child. I mean, obviously you'll watch your children develop but because it'll be gradual, you're not going to suddenly say "oh shit, my child has hit the older age bracket and now they're really boring"

My DH was worried about this but he adores our little boy more than anything in the world. He was very relieved as I think he was worried what would happen Grin
