Stopping to breastfeed but..?

My DS is 9 months and finally I’ve found s little beaker he will take formula milk. My plan was to replace a certain feed with formula gradually starting with the morning feed (where he should be his most hungriest!?).

However, he is only taking 2-3oz...obviously it’s impossible to know whether he only took this from the breast too but I think he should be taking more, so don’t think he’s havig a full feed so put him on the breast too where he also has a little bit.

Question is, is it possible to reduce supply by offering a little (around 3 oz) formula before every feed then breast to top up? Or do I have to replace full feeds? Don’t want him going hungry or more night wakings. But need to stop feeding in time for return to work.
