Constipation!

Dd (7 months) is pretty constipated. She has been really straining for the past 2 days, not much has come out and what has is very dry and solid and she has been in tears each time. Its awful.

I have thrown as much at it as I can- plenty of water, diluted fresh orange, ellas kitchen prunes, pears, ellas pears, wholemeal pasta and veggie tomato sauce, weetabix...in short- I would be sat on the toilet permanently if I had consumed all of that in the past 2 days. So far shes farted a bit more but not much else.

I'm hoping for a deluge tomorrow but if not my question is where do I go next...is it one for the pharmacist? One for the gp? Any suggestions at all....

Two days isn't really that long to go without a poo. I remember my little one didn't go for almost a week when he was that age

Have you tried cycling your baby's legs? Also massaging their tummy (use circular movements clockwise direction)?

No sorry- shes going but theyre very small, hard and causing her a lot of discomfort when she is trying to. Or shes really straining for ages and nothings coming out. I wouldnt worry only it really is upsetting her.

Yes have tried bicycle legs, pushing back on them, stomach rubs and warm baths- not much change from them either!

I’d go to the gp in the morning; I suspect at such a young age the pharmacist won’t have much to give.
If she was happy I’d say wait it out but based on her straining and in pain I’d say GP

GP but sounds a bit dehydrated

Could she be dehydrated even if shes producing wet nappies though?

Thanks all- will book into GPs if no improvement by morning

Wheatvix causes constipation in my DD. Have you tired cutting back on solid food?
