Just that really, meeting some friends for lunch and I would love a g and t!! Do you think it's ok to have just one and then BF?

It's fine, just stay sober enough to care for the baby and don't bed share after drinking.

Bigpizzalover · 02/02/2018 12:35

Only a minimal amount passes through breast milk and if you aren’t going and getting sloshed I don’t see an issue, I breastfeed and if I go out for lunch with the girls I will have a glass of wine and then feed my daughter a few hours later. I read breast milk works the same way as alcohol units in your blood x

Yes it's totally fine. No need to 'pump and dump' unless it's for comfort.

It's absolutely fine. If you are sober enough to care for baby you are sober enough to breastfeed. Think it was explained to me that a glass of wine in breast milk would be like a glass of wine in a swimming pool. Enjoy your g+t 🍸

Yes! I've done it. Breastfeeding is hard work you need a treat!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 02/02/2018 12:37

It's generally fine if you just have one or two drinks and leave it a couple of hours before you breastfeed. There's some useful info here

Bellamuerte · 02/02/2018 12:39

I was told if you can drive you can breast feed.

My mum did and apparently i slept for over 24 hours.
Her mum was fuming!

MrsCrabtree · 02/02/2018 13:18

I heard its actually best to drink WHILST bf - cos the booze can’t get through that fast and the you have the maximum time before the next feed for your body to process the alcohol!

mindutopia · 02/02/2018 13:58

Yes, a glass of wine, maybe even two, depending on how close they are together, unless you're a total lightweight should be fine. More than than and you might want to consider using formula or expressed milk. I don't know any bf mum friends who don't drink though!

lizzlebizzle33 · 02/02/2018 17:38

Well I allowed myself 2 gins, had a jolly good time and now feel nice and relaxed ready for another sleepless night 😂
