Unique activities for babies and toddlers?

I've agreed to have 5 friends round with their 3 babies (plus mine) and 2 toddlers, all aged 6 months to 18 months. We wanted to start a group where we all do activities I'm turn, so for example, one week is music themed with instruments and singing, next week sensory play, etc. I agreed to host first but have no ideas as they've all told me what they're doing. Any suggestions?

-Messy play?
-Painting a big canvas together
-Book theme? So choose a book like Dear zoo (or a few books) then have baskets set up including characters for the book etc
-Arts and crafts

The very hungry caterpillar is a good theme as you can taste the foods with the older ones and squish it with the younger ones. You can also all do a bit of the caterpillar (painting) then join it altogether. X

What a lovely idea.

What about sensory play with a tough tray and spaghetti? Maybe some silly soap?

You could decorate cakes - ore made fairy cakes and different icing and decorations. Spread a drop cloth first and they can just do it on the floor.

Just get some boxes and add scarves cushions and blankets. Plenty of fun climbing rolling and peak a boo.

How about making and playing with some of these.
