Terrible Two's? How do you cope with it?

Any good books out there on how to cope with them, or do you have any tips.
Am at end of tether and am wanting to murder ds!!

Keep as calm as possible

Consider whether stroppy child is possibly hungry, thirsty or tired, and take appropriate action

Try not to give tantrumming behaviour any attention, walk away if possible

Choose your fights carefully

Distraction often works

Repeat as often as necessary "it's just a phase"

Practise your negotiation skills for when they get to 3 and can argue back

be consistent
no means no
but pick your battles!
keep calm and definitely walk away
ignore tantrums
no attention for bad behaviour
praise them when they are good, over do it if neccessary.
try to make sure they get enough sleep
get out of the house as much as poss
walk the little legs off them / soft play / swimming etc!

"just a phase, just a phase" was my mantra!

Thanks, am trying to do all suggested.
Its mainly when he's a danger to himself which is quite a lot.
Will hang in there and not bash him yet!
He is veeery 'challenging' sigh!
At least he sleeps right through, small mercies

Hi Hoola, its a great age isnt it?! I found Toddler Taming Christopher Green useful as it tells you what is normal behaviour although I didn't really follow any of the techniques.IMO The best weapon for 2yr olds is distraction. At the first sign of trouble distract and divert. Whenever DS looked as if he was about to kick off I would pick him up and turn him upside down (he thought this was the funniest thing ever).
