Does my baby smell??

So, this is a bit weird but I've been wondering if my 9 month old DS smells?? It's not a bad smell and he gets a bath every second day (water only as his skin is sensitive) and I make sure to clean his face, hands and neck after eating but I can still smell it. Is it just 'his' scent? My mum used to always go on that she would be able to identity me by smell! Am I being crazy?

My house is clean and tidy too. I do have a short haired dog but he is clean and his bedding regularly cleaned and pet odour eliminator used. It's not a doggy smell anyway. Am I going mad or is this normal??

Everybody has their own smell... your baby has a smell but it's not a bad smell! Just keep to your water wash routine. It's fine. I would not use perfume on a baby!

My son used to have a smell, it was lovely, warm and soft. It my daughter didn't, she only ever smelled of baby shampoo. How are you getting away with washing a 9 month old with only water? How do wash his hair, dirty hands and face?

Slippermaiden I use Johnston's shampoo in his hair but was advised to use water only because his skin is sensitive and that babies don't need products. I always use a warm washcloth to clean him after food etc.

My dd has a specific smell (it's lovely)but my ds doesn't. My sister's dc had it too, my youngest nephew had a certain smell and would smell differ when he was ill. Only me and my sister could smell it on her dc though, and dd only smells different to me so maybe it's us op!

Lol, it's definitely not a 'bad' smell, just a distinctive smell that I can smell! DH thinks I'm hallucinating!

I'm just remembering how much butter and vegetable smush used to end up in my twos hair and other places! Wink

Slightly off topic but I love the smell of Oilatum junior head to toe wash! DD is prone to a build up of cradle cap so her scalp needs more than just water sometimes.
