As we grow out of your typical pre school type toys what do kids in their reception year like to play with? What activities and toys are good for them?

Don’t know about what’s good for them, but toys my 6 yr old liked when he was in Reception included:

Toy trains and toy cars
Lego
Simple board games
Marble run
Bucket and spade (beach, sandpits etc)
Sticker books

My 5yo still loves his wooden train set
Lego
Toy kitchen and food
Cars
Felt tips and paper for drawing
Board games

Not a toy as such but he also loves riding his bike.

My 5 yrs old dd loves any small world toys, so her farm, dolls house, fairy garden. She is also into my little pony and dolls.

My 4 year old DD is mainly into crafts, hama beads, making jewellery, reading and Lego. She’s never been into toys much, she prefers making things.

Oh and board games.
