Bump on the head!

Hey everyone,

Earlier today my 3 year old fell off a chair and banged his head on the side of a wooden cabinet. He instantly started crying and a massive bump appeared with what looked like trapped blood. He was screaming when I touched it (even about 30mins later). So I took him to the minor injuries unit and was told he is fine etc. But I still can't help but feel slightly worried especially through the night as he sleeps...

Has this happened to anyone else??

Bumps are good, it means the swelling has gone out instead of in.

Look you have done what you can, if minor injuries can't see any worrying symptoms I would just keep an eye on him and try not to worry too much.

I'm quite impressed you have got him to 3 years old before having a bump of this kind to be honest. Mines already had three nasty ones and she's not even 1 yet!

I've reported my own post.

My 2.7 year old was in the bedroom with my DH on Wednesday she was getting ready for Nursery. I was in the kitchen and suddenly heard a huge crash and DD screaming and crying.

She'd some how managed to fall off the bed straight onto her head. Poor DH was white as a sheet. Massive bump came up immediately and she also had a huge bruise on her shoulder and hip.

Rung the GP who told us unless she was sleepy or being sick he wouldn't worry. So she went off to Nursery, and was fine bar a bump.

She did tell the Nursery manager daddy pushed her though Hmm

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing all your stories. It makes me feel much better (not in a sadistic way) just to know that all the little ones were fine afterwards!

My son seemed fine the next day although I spent all night watching him. It's the first time he's had a bump like that so it worried me, but he was perfectly fine the next day. Good to know their little heads are stronger than we think!

@TheVanguardSix
that's along the lines of what the doctor at minor injuries said. Very lucky to have a GP in the house though! And why have you reported your own post?
