Biting Baby......

Can anyone offer advice on how to stop my baby biting at the breast? She's 10.5 months and it's most nursing sessions now, especially at night. It's painful but she thinks it's hilarious. I've tried online advice of gently pushing her into the breast and taking it away but neither are working. Help please. I don't think my poor nipples can take much more!

At 10.5 months I would put her down and not let her back on! At least for a bit anyway.

It's frustrating. Especially at bedtime as she's going through our bedtime routine and when she gets her sleep sack on she's whining and pawing/grabbing at the breast suggesting she's ready for a feed. She latches on, feeds for a bit, then bam - bite! She's a sleep resistor anyway so maybe this is her new tactic?! I'll try just taking her off tomorrow and letting her play about for a bit to see if it makes a difference.

I used to break the latch immediately , say no fiercely and put them down. Just for 10 / 15 seconds or so. It seemed to work.

Have you tried giving the last feed down stairs, lights on etc, then doing to do teeth , stories and bed? If she's biting to avoid sleep then break the feed to sleep habit?

Try not to say 'ow' or any high pitched reaction, my 1 year old finds anything like that funny.
Id take her off, say calmly 'no' and sit her on the floor, then offer her a bottle with water in instead each time. Once she starts associating biting with a less tasty drink she might hopefully stop!
