I have been with my partner for just over 7 years and he has a son 12. He lives with his mother but is often at our house, as we both love having him round whenever we can. But I'm unsure about my role in the discipline side of things. Simple 'mom' things like getting him to tidy his mess up, not eating his food ( his a very picky eater) ect. He often has his iPad and has the volume loud as anything, sometimes I don't mind and sometimes i just want quite. I often have to like drop small hints and leave it and just get on with it.

Do I have a say? Or the right to tell him? I don't want to be the mean step mom moaning all the time.

If he is in your home then of course you have a say, but just choose your battles. Does it really matter if his iPad is a little bit loud sometimes? Does it really matter if he’s a picky eater?

I'm pretty much a easy going kind of person, and it don't bother me. But sometimes it just does. Weather it's because I'm stressed or hormones.
