Grumpy baby

Hi,

My 8 month old has been really grumpy since about 6 months. She just moans ALL day long (unless eating, sleeping, watching TV or if I’m reading a book).

She sleeps 10-12 hours at night straight but it’s really hard to get to nap unless in the pram/ car.

I just don’t know if this is a personality thing and she’s always going to be like this?

Just after reassurance really that she’s not the only one. It seems whenever I take her out to baby groups she’s the only one just moaning and grumpy.

Any advice would be amazing!

Thanks

My DD was a pain at around that age. She perked up massively when she learned to crawl and more once she could walk. Some babies just don't suit babyhood.

xamyrose · 14/01/2018 17:00

Yeah she’s not crawling yet :( I really hope she’s better once she’s on the move x

I agree, ds is the same although a lot happier now he's 10.5 months. He is very frustrated at times though as he isn't crawling yet and is getting on all fours and rocking so hopefully it'll be soon. He can sit but can't get into sitting position on his own, he can he half of his body up and lean on one hand so maybe that's coming soon too. I think at this age there's so many developments and baby's brain is going hundred miles an hour!

My 5MO sometimes whines constantly unless he is eating or out of the house. It's infuriating. He sleeps well, had plenty of attention, but he seems so frustrated. I'm hoping it passes when he's on the move. My sisters baby is so happy!

xamyrose · 14/01/2018 17:11

Glad I’m not the only one! Was thinking there was something that I’m not doing that’s making her unhappy. Just looking forward to her crawling/ walking then!

You def not the only one OP, I've hated the baby phase. I'm dying for ds to crawl! It's getting heavy carrying over 21 pounds around...Sad

xamyrose · 14/01/2018 17:17

Haha carrying her round is deffo my life at the moment. I’m looking forward to the toddler phase. Seems a lot more fun as you can do more with them and they’re more aware.

My next baby will be one of these content babies that can sit and play with toys for hours and “self settle” for sleep!

This too shall pass...

Could be teething too.

tinymeteor · 14/01/2018 17:19

10-12 hours at night is amazing by the way!

PasstheStarmix · 14/01/2018 17:22

xamyrose i know I'm at the stage now when I'd really rather chase him around then have to carry him. People complain about the toddler phase but i can't wait for it as the baby stage has been trying to say the least. Haha me too, I've told myself my second one will be an angel baby that sleeps all of the time! I mean surely for those that have had difficult babies first time around it's the natural order of thing right? Hmm

things

PasstheStarmix · 14/01/2018 17:27

Hope I don't scare you but DS was sleeping through at 8 months too and then hit 9.5 months and his sleep started regressing on odd nights and now since 10 months he's been waking between 1-3 times every single night. We are blaming it on developmental not crawling etc as we've ruled out everything else.

xamyrose · 14/01/2018 17:57

Tinymeteor — yeah, she has two teeth, I’m sure the next ones are due soon. I don’t even bother with teething stuff because she’s moody anyway, teething or not! Yeah 10-12 hours I can’t complain... she does wake up but puts herself back to sleep after rolling over and chilling for a bit. Wish she was good at napping!

Passthestarmix- im deffo not planning for two under two just in case the next one is the same. I’ll wait till this ones at nursery lol. Ahhh don’t worry I’m very well mentally prepared for a sleep regression at night somewhere down the line. That’ll be the next phase I’m sure Sad
