Is my 7 week old poorly

My baby is seven weeks old, he's always be regular bowel movements wise and Pooh's at least once sometimes twice a day.

He hasn't pooped in 48 and was in pain this morning? He finally squeezed a big pooh out but still seemed a bit constipated but much happier.

However he's been soooo sleepy all day which isn't like him, he's hardly ate either. Like 1-2 ounces and few hours, he hasn't drank a full bottle like normal. He's not crying when he has been awake and seems happy enough but he's just so sleepy. Does he seem poorly? I'm worrying.

Around that age, mine went from pooping 3-4 times a day, to once every 3-4 days! It was alarming at first but is apparently normal as their gut matures. Unfortunately when he does go, it's a total poonami, and he does get a bit uncomfortable in the days leading up to it.

I would not be worried so much about the poo but a sleeper than normal 7 week old I would get checked out.

Ring 111 and they will arrange an appointment with a GP tonight.

He seems much better. He woke up at six and has only just got down to sleep, with only a 15 min nap in between.

He's also drank 12oz since six so seems ok now. Hoping he was just tired from all the straining bless him

That is good to hear.

I have never know a GP age unhappy to see a new born. They can get very ill quickly but also don’t take long to check over. 111 will also arrange an appointment for an under 6 month old that night.

Ah I never knew that! Thanks for letting me know 😁

Good that he is feeling better. I only know this from experience.

Glad he is feeling better, you tal in ozs so.am guessing your baby is bottle fed, I think the thing about them going days between poos applies more to breastfed babies as almost of all of breastmilk can be absorbed and used unlike formula (not a judgement at all, just how it is).
