So, when pting, is it worth using training pants...?

or is it better to go cold turkey into proper pants?

DD is in reusables at the mo' but they're far too fussy to get off in a hurry. I have bought proper knickers and was just going to put her in those when the moment came (hopefully soon!), but others have insisted that I'd be being cruel and training pants are the only way to go.

Opinions?

I would only use the traing pants when you aren't at home. Once she gets the hang of it at home you can try it out in public

We went cold turkey on pants from day one.

If you do use training pants or pulls up when out and about, one suggestion given to me was to leave their proper pants on underneath. That way if they do wet, they can still feel it - so they know they are not in a nappy, etc.

proper knickers worked much better for my DTs, with 'nappy knickers' they just took no notice

Agree - proper knickers or pants are cheap enough at Tescos, Asda, Matalan etc so buy loads to deal with accidents. Can also buy waterproof mattress cover for the bed at Ponden Mill or other equivalent cheap home place.
Also, DS didn't like the pull-ups cos he said they chafed so wouldn't wear them anyway.

Get bed liners for the bed

Brangelina · 25/04/2007 21:56

Oh, I hadn't thought about the bedsheets . Are we supposed to go cold turkey on nights too? I thought that came weeks/months/years after they were dry in the day. If ever - I know one little girl who's 7 and still wears a nappy at night.

Oh bum, you can tell I'm a total pting virgin, can't you?

PS, good point about the training pants over knickers when out for long periods. I hadn't thought of that, it'll be handy for long car trips.

You are supposed to do whta feels right for your LO and your family. There are no rules so don't worry. Its fine to keep one on them at night
