6 month old - sitting

Hi all.

My little one has used his bouncer chair since he was about 4-5 months as he was almost tipping himself out as he's just so active!

We got a mamas and papas "snug seat" - like a Bumbo but he doesn't seem keen on it.

What does you Little One 6m+ tend to sit in, other than the floor? (He can't sit unaided for long periods yet)

I think it's best to leave them on the floor, ideally on their tummy, so they can develop the muscles to sit up alone which won't happen as well if they're propped up in a chair

At 6 months it'll probably only be a couple of weeks till he's sitting sturdily on the floor or highchair. It doesn't take long at all from sitting for short periods to sitting indefinitely.

Is it because you want him somewhere captive while you cook or something? I used to pop them in the high chair with some pots to bang about in the kitchen, or on the floor on a big blanket, or in a travel cot.

Before my little boy could sit reliably I just lay him on the floor or if I needed to contain him I used an activity station or car seat depending on what mood he was in. I've only just stopped using the bouncer chair this week at 9 months because he's only just figured out how to sit himself up in it.

I used to just pop her on the floor with a breast feeding pillow wedged behind her Incase she toppled.

My DD doesn’t really sit in anything, we got her a mamas and papas infant positioner but she prefers being on her front playing (sucking) toys and rolling etc. We also have the snug seat but she isn’t keen on it for longer than a couple of minutes.
She eats in the high chair and sits in her pram or lies in her cot playing with toys when I need to shower etc
