At what age did you stop going to toddler groups?

I went to a toddler/playgroup this morning with DS (3.4) and DD (3 months). Bear in mind I haven't been to a toddler group since DS was 12 months and I went back to work. DS was probably the oldest there, and the toys mainly seemed aimed at younger children really (peg puzzles etc). He had a good time, but I suspect would get bored if we went there every week. He is at nursery 3 days per week, so doesn't really need to go to playgroups as well, but it seems a shame because I'm not sure what else we can do that is suitable for both kids and where I can have some adult conversation!

Until he started school. I'd made some good friends

Until about 3.5 when they started preschool. We’ve moved around a lot though and I found in some areas I didn’t really see other kids older than about 2/2.5 whereas one place we lived there would be kids up to school age.

Different groups we're better for different ages in my experience so there were definite favourites as my son got older then ones which were better if it was just me and the baby.

Try out as many different ones as you can.

My DS did nursery in the afternoons so went to playgroups till he was 4.5...it was only bearable because we both had friends there (and younger one needed to go!) But basically it’s really hard finding things for a child to do in winter when they are 3+ but not yet at school. Like you say, the toys are for younger kids and older kids are too big and boisterous and other people can resent them being there!

We don't have loads around here, but I would say probably just before 2 years. About 17 months or so, e had been going to one music group, but it was discontinued as the teacher went back to work doing something else. I never really bothered to find much after that, though we did sometimes go to rhyme time at the library up til about 2 but then she seemed a bit old for that as well. I went back to work full-time when she was 2.5 anyway, but there's not much around here.
