Meningitis B and Meningitiss ACWY

I have been thinking of getting DC 10 and 7 immunise for meningitis B. What are people experience with this vaccine?. Is it really necessary? is it safe? It costs £300 per child, 2 jabs of £150 each. Should adults also get immunised?

I understand there is another one which I believe is ACWY, this one costs £80.

I don't know what to do. I believe children are offered one of these as teenagers in secondary school. Which one is it.?

Can I do it cheaper somewhere else? we are in London.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I Had my 3 year old vaccinated against MenB. All went fine, gave him calpol immediately after and no issues whatsoever. I’m currently looking at having him vaccinated against ACWY too.

Therapy another thread about Men B at the moment. I believe that Superdrug and Boots are both cheaper.

I got my 3yo done at boots. Was 220 in total for both jabs.

Boots is £110 per jab for Men B. I highly recommend them.

Second boots, really good with kids, easy to organise. Although since a friend who is a school nurse and a friend who is a doctor said the risk is so low that they wouldn’t be getting their kids done. However once it was in my head, I felt I couldn’t not get it done!

I got my son vaccinated for Meningitis B when he was about ten months. We live abroad and we're following the schedule of the country where we live - Men B isn't on it at all so I decided to just get it done. We did it at a private dr (he wasn't the right age to qualify to have it done at Boots) for the price you've mentioned but there is the option of a third booster jab, which we'll be getting next year.

I did a bit of research and am going to get DS vaccinated for ACWY as well. He's 14mo and that's safe.

After reading a horrible article recently about a healthy man who died of Men W I'm considering getting myself and DH vaccinated as well.
