Visiting friends - sick toddler

Hi! We are due to visit friends. I suggested we stay in a hotel close by but my friend insisted we should stay with them. We have kids he same age and I thought it would be easier if we have our own place to go if my baby had enough/need a nap etc. But she completely insisted we should stay with them.
Now, 2 days before, she tells me her LO has an infection and is on antibiotics. I don't want to be precious on my LO and know the ABs will kick in - but do we still stay there?? My DH took time off from work so wouldn't want to cancel the whole trip and his break. WWYD?

What is the infection?

Ebola? Don't stay
UTI? Stay

DesignedForLife · 03/01/2018 21:37

Depends what the infection is.
Ear infection, UTI, fine. Scarlet fever no.

Thanks for the replies. It's a chest infection?

Go, it’s fine.

JollyGiraffe · 03/01/2018 21:53

Of course that's fine.

If it's a chest infection, it's probably just a cold that has turned to a chest infection. You can't 'catch' a chest infection per se, but your lo could get a cold. I suspect it's also probably just viral (but GPs do tend to give antibiotics with toddlers just to be sure), so will probably be mostly passed by the time you get there. I would be more concerned with YOU getting sick than baby to be honest.

You're right Mindutopia, we already had a few antibiotics given for viral infections here ourselves - think I'm just over the continuous getting sick business. I'll be building my bubble if anyone needs me.
