Nursery school application

Hi

I need to apply to the local nursery school by the 15th Jan for a place for my daughter in September 2018. She turns 3 in August so will be entitled to at least 15 free hours. Does anyone know if I just put the application in to the nursery school and then apply for the free hours or do the free hours have to be organised prior to the application being submitted? I’m assuming we have to arrange the free hours and that the nursery don’t do this on our behalf? I have no idea how it all works so if anyone does please can you advise? Thank you.

In my experience the nursery provider will give you a form for claiming the hours and then they deal with it for you . Have u looked to see if you are eligible for the 30hours?

Our nursery does it automatically the term after their 3rd birthday. The local preschool only takes children for the year before they start school, so all children are eligible for their 15 hours, they also apply the discount automatically.

Best to call them and ask, as different places have different ways of doing things.

Thank you very much for your replies. Have emailed the school as they aren’t back yet and wondered if they may monitor their emails but will give them a call next week. Will see about the 30 hours but I think we will only need 15. Thank you both.

You don't have to claim the full 30 I'm claiming 24 I only work 16 hours but factoring in the commute I need the extra hours of that makes sense. If u want up to 30hours you have to apply for a code on hmrc childcare choices.
