Clingy!

Morning all!

I have a 2 year old little boy who is VERY clingy with me. (He has just turned 2 before xmas. He has always been quite clingy but since me and his dad parted a year ago, this seems to have getting much worse. His father is a bit of an arse so to speak and doesn't really see my son.
I'm a SAHM due to not having anyone to look after my child whilst I go to work. My mum is a great help and he is quite close to her (he won't stay with her) but she works full time.
He is due to start nursery for 3 days a week next week so I can get myself back into work. Now my question is, do you think this is too young and how do you know they are ready?

I'm probably overthinking but I definetly think his clingy issues come from his daddy leaving and I don't want him thinking I'm also going to leave. He loves being at home with me, and we do have a lot of fun. Which I would quite happily put off going to work for another year aslong as my son was happy. But the other half of me doesn't want to deny him of making new little friends. I feel so torn!

Is a just turned 2 year old too young? Sorry it probably doesn't make much sense just I really feel torn about this and don't know if I'm doing the right thing 😭
Thankyou xx

He doesn’t need to go to nursery to make friends. He can build up relationships while he’s with you at playgroups, with family and friends.

That’s not a criticism though, it’s just from your post you seem to be saying that the reason you are doing this is for him to make friends at nursery.

Oh I know it came across like that. Just he loves mixing with other kids so that's a big factor as he doesn't really see a lot of other children.
