Hello, Can anyone recommend a particular brand of reusable nappy? I have come across Bambino Mio and Kushies which seem good but this is all new to me. Thanks!

flame'll be along soon, but i reccomend tots bots, and bambineos

Flamesparrow · 24/04/2007 11:43

Bambineosssssssssssssssssssssssssss

It really depends on what you are looking for though - drying speed, slimness, ease of use, cost....

Pricewise Cotton_Bottoms are really good and I much prefer the wraps to the Bamino Mio ones. I also really like Motherease, the wraps are the best ones and the nappies are good but very pricey.

flamesparrow, whats a good one for nighttime big wetter. He is toilet trained during the day and his brother wears bamboozles, but these are too small for ds1

Flamesparrow · 24/04/2007 11:48

Bambineo - they are much much bigger. Use those with either bamboo boosters or microfibre ones.

i love my tots bot bamboozles, have to be hinest i wasn't keen on the bambineos.
i don't rate the kushies or bambino mio ones either sorry!
if you looking for ease of sue the motherease one size ones sold in waitrose are good, but my all time faves are the bamboozles and the swaddlebees organic velour.
those are all two part nappies so you need a wrap as well to make them waterproof, but have you looked at pocket nappies too? good oens invlude fuzzi bunz, happy heiny's and bum genius.
good websites to order from are
www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk
www.kittykins.co.uk
www.nappyneeds.co.uk

hope that helps a bit

how could I forget a name like that! my ds1 is quite big 3 yrs next month will the size 2 fit him ok? I use nappy nippers for ds2 so will do the same for ds1

Flamesparrow · 24/04/2007 12:33

Intrigued - why do you prefer bamboozles? (Just doin some research).

Bambineos waist stretches to 2 3/4 dvd box lengths (can't find the tape measure), and the rise is about 2 1/2 boxes

I swear by Cotton Bottoms. They have a pad that you fold inside a wrap. They fold out flat for washing / drying, so dry quickly. Have not had any problems with leaks / nappy rash etc. They are also very reasonably priced compared to some other systems (boots have an essentials pack at half price at mo - £25.00 for 12 pre-fold nappies and 4 wraps) which is good if you are unsure whether or not you are going to get on with them!!
I purchased some extra patterned wraps (Aplix type) which work well with the pre-folds too.

quokka · 24/04/2007 14:09

ok if my boy is over 16kg what nappy can I use for night time? Have looked at some you guys have mentioned and they only go up to 16kgs - unless I'm being a bit thick!

gingertoo · 24/04/2007 14:47

Cotton Bottoms size 3 are for 15 - 32lbs.
I always use a booster at night in addition to the prefold inside the wrap.(I buy them from little lamb - £5 for 10 boosters)

Hope that helps

Flamesparrow · 24/04/2007 18:04

The bambineos go above 16kgs I think (I know they go much higher than the bamboozles which stop at 15.9)

Woby · 25/04/2007 14:14

Thanks All , The Tots Bots Bamboozles look lovely - are they suitable for newborns?

We used Imse Vimse available at GreenBaby and other places. They are birth to potty, good drying speed and very soft. We used them with Imse wraps, but I think you could use other wraps as well.

quokka · 25/04/2007 15:52

I've used size 2 tot bamboozles since ds was 4 months and they have been great. I use them with motherease wraps better than pul wraps imo. I would just use muslin and a wrap for a newnorn. Go to the thenappylady.co.uk for advice on how to fold them. I wouldn't spend alot for the first few months as they grow soooo quickly
