10 month old not eating in high chair

For the last couple of weeks my 10 month old has been making this awful whingeing and whining sound whilst eating in his high chair and starting to refuse food he would normally love after just a few mouthfuls.

Tonight we had a bit of a lightbulb moment and realised the problem seemed to he with his chair - took him out and fed on dp's lap and he suddenly went quiet and ate all of his dinner like he hadn't seen food for weeks!

We are relieved in the sense it's not an issue with his food but what do we do about his chair? Do we try another type (got his from Aldi it's quite cushioned and looks comfy) or one of those booster seats?

Has anyone else had this? Grateful for any ideas.

Have you checked that there is nothing hurting him in the chair? If there is nothing wrong maybe try a booster. I didn't use a high chair past 1 years old as they didn't really like it in there past that age.

Doesn't seem to be anything there to hurt him and have checked the straps aren't too tight. He does tend to slouch in it and we have to constantly hoick him back up again.

He's big for his age (in 12-18 month clothes and 25lbs) so maybe he has just outgrown it?

Very possible! Booster seat seems to be the best solution hopefully he will be happy sat in that! Good luck Smile

Does his highchair mean he is away from the table? Could he want to be more at the table with you?

Argos do good little booster seats you strap to dining chairs, get one of those and every sit down together? He might prefer that.

He is pretty close to the table and we always sit with him so not sure it's that. Have ordered one of those booster seats coming tomorrow so will see how he gets on. Feels weird as I thought he would be in a chair for 2 years!

Sometimes Kids just don't like to be seated there and start fussing so much. My niece just doesn't sit on her high chair and be fed. So she is kept on the lap and fed now. As soon as she is kept on the high chair, she starts screaming her guts out and when she out from it, she is all cool. lol!

Booster seat was the answer! Fits him so much better hes more upright, has the tray right in front of him rather than having to reach for it - the high chair was so obviously a bad fit I can't believe I didn't notice sooner. Happy baby!
