Discussing with a friend when I realised I was old apart from weeing when I cough I figured it was when I got excited about the next sale...for clothes for myself...I like to think of myself as a new look, river island topshop kind of lass but I’ve realised most of my current wardrobe is from next!! I’ve gone all mumsy!!!

Looking back at photos of me and DD1 as a baby and realising how fresh-faced I looked! I’ve really not aged well since having kids...

When I started online dating and my mother said that I was surely not looking for “any of that”, just a bit of companionship!

It hit me first about 2 years ago when an ad for ‘Old School R&B’ CD came on and I realised that they were all the songs I listened to as chart music in secondary school/college.
I was 26 so I guess not old, but it still made me realise that I’m also not seen as young and cool anymore Grin

My little sisters (14.14 &11) always like to remind me how old I am now though; the teenagers get all shocked that not only do I know what a ‘cut crease’ eye is but that I can do it too, and that I have the new Jaclyn Hill Morphe palette ( apparently it’s wasted on someone at 28 Hmm), also the 11 year old asked me not too long ago if the TV was still black and white when I was a kid Shock

I'm an academic.

In the last few weeks I have made passing references to recent news/cultural events - Alder Hey organ retention scandal, Tony Blair's "Education x3" speech and Craig David on "Bo Selecta" TV show.

Turns out these aren't very recent events and my students either weren't born or were in nappies when these things were happening. Bastards.

Being at the school the other day and an adult was registering his child, said adult was young enough to be my son. That is not possible.

That and the fact that our community policeman is still in short trousers.

Loads of things :( I remember when I was in my early 40s, standing looking at the clothes in River Island and suddenly realising that they weren't making these clothes for the likes of me, I was too old for them. I too am easily old enough to be the mother of many people I work with.
