7yo won't do a thing he's told

I'm at the end of my tether, just ended up shouting at ds after yet another trying day.

I love him so much but he's pushing my buttons so much. He literally will not do a thing I ask, he only does anything after being asked at least 3 times, first time nicely, then firmly, then not so nicely.. It's taking it out of both of us because I find him exhausting and I just want to enjoy my time with him, and he has shouty miserable mummy, feel like we both deserve better.

Does anyone have a solution?!

Mine is the same. Sometimes he doesn’t hear me as I’m asking him when he’s busy reading or playing.

Other times it’s because he has his own ideas as to what is necessary.

So I’ve had to expect that he won’t obey me immediately. Which is fine as he’s learning his way and getting more independent.

So I try and give him more responsibility- if he doesn’t get ready for school, we leave the house or we are late. Yes I made him late one day for School as was fed up of nagging. It worked and we’ve never been late since.
