Tablets to boost milk supply during pregnancy?

My milk didn’t come in with DC1 and I remember afterwards someone telling me about tablets They took pre birth to help that were aparently miracle workers.

Does anyone know which ones they are? I think they were specifically for if you know you’re having a C Sec?

I really don't think there's anything you can take pre-birth. It would have to affect your hormone levels to do any good and that would be potentially dangerous. Milk sometimes comes in a few days later after a C-section but there's no reason a section should otherwise affect supply.

Some people take domperidone after the birth for milk supply but most people are fine as long as they feed to demand and baby is transferring milk effectively.

Fenugreek? No need to take in pregnancy though.

You don't make milk in pregnancy. It doesn't happen until the post-birth hormones trigger it and usually happens 3-5 days after birth. You make colostrum in pregnancy, but how much you make has no bearing on whether you'll make lots of milk once your milk comes in. They are probably talking about some vitamins that have no actual connection to milk production and it was just coincidence.

I struggled with supply with my first (I was anaemic after birth, so milk didn't come in for 5 days) and my dd was born early so no sucking reflex and struggled to latch for months, even eventually to bottles. That was the cause of the supply issue as it's a supply and demand system. She couldn't demand it and my iron was low as it was, so I struggled to make it. Fenugreek didn't help me, but it is an option and I would give it a try, but only have you know you have an issue (otherwise you may end up with over-supply and be miserable). Obviously doesn't work in pregnancy though as you aren't making milk. One thing you might consider though is harvesting some colostrum? I aim to do that this time just to have a bit extra in case I need it.
