6 week old (3 weeks corrected) hates having nappy changed

Just that really. She screams blue murder, if she's sleepy it's ok, but if we have to do a full change and her vest is coming off, she cries like no tomorrow. What can I do to calm her? Have tried singing, one of us stroking her head while the other one changes her, etc...

It gets better! My DS has a particularly loud scream... one that strangers will comment "ooh thats a sore cry", Hmm
He screamed and screamed constantly when getting dressed/undressed/nappy changed. He's now 4 months and when he's on thebcjanging table I'll play some music and he gazes around and will laugh, smile, "wooo!" And kick his legs around. Don't get me wrong there are times when he's feeling a bit cheesed off and will scream at me but generally we're past the difficult bit. He's the only baby in his massage class that keeps his vest on though!

OP, don't let yourself be stressed by the comment of some random stranger in the waiting room. 20 years later, dh still tells the story of the kind of old lady on the train who was so worried about our 1yo dd.

Kind lady: "oh what is the matter with the poor little thing?"

Dh (muttering through clenched teeth): "She's eaten her banana."

MrsYorkie I was going to ask aomone about massage and whether they had to take their vests off! I want to take DD as she loves a good massage. But will hate the vest removal. Keeping it on seems like a win...

Go for it... baby massage was something i desperately wanted to do throughout my pregnancy! I really looked forward to it. When he was born and hated being undressed and screamed like a banshee at anything and everything, i was really gutted. But at 9 weeks I decided to go and we've been every week since. Don't get me wrong there are weeks when he feeds throughout and others when he screams and I've no idea why but weve had a few successful sessions too! At the moment we're going through a phase where he'll only.accept having his legs massaged and then goes nuts if I attempt anything else. Just their little phases.

Ps the baby massage woman tells me to keep his vest on or to swaddle him and reswaddle depending on where we're massaging. X

Get some wrap vests! My dd was not a fan of clothes going over her head at all and wrap vests are amazing to avoid that sensation. H&M do a wide range of colours and sizes, and I think wrap vests look much more stylish too!

Progress! Which seemed to come all on its own. The nappy part is now ok - she seems to have accepted it as a fact of life. Still not massively impressed with me taking off her vest but I'm hopeful it will come with time...

Katonic thank you! I'm going online to H&M now...

You could try keeping a small toy (easily cleanable) with the changing stuff as a distraction for her, maybe something which has music or sounds?
