I may be very late to this party but this Ted Talk about the shift in our expectations of ourselves as parents and of our children really resonated with me.

Any thoughts on it?

It's funny isn't it, I was talking to a couple of people recently - one was buying a book on dealing with toddlers and tantrums, the other was buying a book on sleep.
We have programmes like super nanny and 3 day nanny helping us to parent - when did it reach this point that people need to be told or instructed what to do.
I may be getting it completely wrong who knows (probably!) but I've found it's all been very natural and common sense to me...
