If you have made a lifestyle choice for you and or your children to be vegetarian/vegan etc what have you needed to do for your school to follow your choice concerning school meals for children of free school meal age?

Thanks

Mine isn't vegetarian (though I was for 20 years), but our school has a vegetarian meal at every lunch (most are not vegan though). We go online and choose all our school meals at the start of the term, so you would just select the vegetarian options. There is a list every day of who ordered what and the teacher or whoever is supervising them makes sure that each child gets the meal ordered for them. All snacks are vegan (either fruit or raw veg) and there is always a fresh fruit option for pudding at lunch. It would be more tricky if vegan, I suspect, and you'd probably have to talk directly to the school meal caterers to make special requests.

@EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic just wondering if I made the choice for me and my children to go vegetarian, what I would need to provide to school?

My 6 year old just chooses the vegetarian option at lunch. There's usually a form of something at end of school year looking for any changes in address or allergies and I'll put a note of it there too.

Most schools do have a vegetarian option available every day as Chembe says. I’d let the school know too. You’ll be fine 🙂
