Tommee Tipee Prep machine - filter issues

Hi

My partner and I have been using the perfect prep machine since our little girl was born in July. She is now 15 weeks. I went to change the filter last night and have realised that we haven't been pushing the filter down hard enough to filter the water completely - meaning she has been drinking tap water! I am upset and annoyed that the instructions do not clearly state you need to push down hard and click into place - I only realised this by watching a guy on YT changing the filter. The Tomee Tipee official videos do not make this clear and we were always concerned about not touching the bottom to spread germs, not being rough with the filter in case that affected its performance. I just want to find out if anyone else has done the same or to warn parents to check they are inserting the filter correctly. Obviously I feel stupid and a total failure of a mother as well. She hasn't been sick, so we are lucky but I will never know what drinking non sterile water might have done to her.

I wouldn't trust it tbh as most formulas should be made with boiled water not filtered tap water. And the hot shot isn't of sufficient volume to stay warm enough to kill bacteria in the formula. I wouldn't buy one

Not really what the OP asked though was it?

Says this on the instructions I just looked at:

Without removing the hopper from the machine and still holding the filter
by the top, place the filter in the hopper, ensuring it locks in to place.

I've just done a cleaning cycle on it & replaced the filter, this time properly clicking it into place! Can't believe I didn't realise that's how it's meant to be done! Although I've read the instructions & watched a video on Tommee Tippee's website on how to change the filter, & it definitely isn't made clear that it clicks into place.
Only problem is, I cut my bloody finger whilst pushing the filter in! So I've probably contaminated the whole damn thing after all that! It only bled after I took my hand out, I'm pretty sure there's none in the water hopper/filter, but do you think I should buy another new filter & make bottles using the kettle for now?
