Newborn won't take a bottle

Im breastfeeding my 2 day old but really want to get him onto a bottle as well so that DH can help out

I had no problem with this with my first child but this one just spits it out, complains, pushes milk out etc

It comes out too fast. I've warmed the formula and teet etc. Using Nuk from birth teets and aptimil ready mixed

Any tips or advice? Do I just keep trying?

Get your DH to do it. Baby can probably smell your milk.

I'd try different brand bottles and expressed milk. Make sure you are well out of the 'smell range' of the baby whilst DH does it too. However I'd also be very careful to be expressing every time the baby is given a bottle for the next few weeks to establish my milk supply if I was wanting to bf longer term.
Both my DCs were initally mixed fed (for different reasons) with a combo of bf, expressed milk, and formula. It was really hard work to get them back soley bf but this would have been even harder if I hadn't done the expressing.

The medela bottles are a god send for me. Yes they are sold as bottles for breast milk but I use with formula sometimes in the day. The baby has to suck to release the milk so they don't lose their latch ability when breastfeeding and the milk doesn't rush out. Breastfeeding at night should keep your supply up. Good luck

Maybe a bit too early just yet. Better to establish bf and your supply first. Maybe dh could do the winding after you feed? Don't worry too much that not feeding dc =not enough bonding! Dh can do lots of other things!!

Agree with PPs re baby smelling your breastmilk. But if (s)he won't take bottle from your DH either you could try cup feeding. Some babies just won't take a bottle at all, right from birth.

I waited until week 2, expressed Milk which we warmed up. I went out of the room while he did it so she couldn't smell me. We use the tommy tipee closer to nature bottles which the midwife reccomended.

Health visitors advised me to wait until about 4 weeks old to make sure supply is established. Check out kellymom website, loads of great info on there.

It’s probably a bit soon really, especially as baby will I my be getting colostrum from you at the moment.
