Is there a certain age you stopped bedtime milk?

Do you mean stop giving a bottle of formula or cows’ milk or stop giving a child a glass of milk shortly before they go to bed?

Tinks15 · 28/10/2017 20:42

Sorry as in a bottle of cows milk, don't know whether I should swap to a beaker or not? Or should I stop milk before bed full stop.

Age 2

Ijustlovefood · 28/10/2017 21:31

Why should there have to be an age for them to stop?

C0untDucku1a · 28/10/2017 21:32

My 7 and 5 year old have a glass of milk before bed

CycleHire · 28/10/2017 21:32

Before 2 we switched to a Tommy Tippee Cup for milk. I wouldn’t worry too much personally if it’s one bottle a day though. As far as I’m concerned bedtime milk can go on forever from a cup. No reason to stop.

FuzzyOwl · 28/10/2017 21:32

I would get rid of the baby bottle as soon as you can but no harm in carry on with the milk in a beaker or a cup until such time as he chooses otherwise (assuming he ever does).

SavageCabbage · 28/10/2017 21:33

My mother is 77 and has milk before bed every night.

MummyInHeel · 28/10/2017 21:33

The advice is a year old, but the truth is milk is nutritious, comforting and helps settle. Do what you need to do!

missyB1 · 28/10/2017 21:34

When ds was about 14 months we transferred his bedtime milk into a beaker. He’s nearly 9 now and still has a glass of milk at bedtime with a biscuit!

Changerofname987654321 · 28/10/2017 21:37

We gave up a bottle before bed at about 10 months as she had not taken it for months at that point. She would wake during the night for milk.

At 12 months we offered a breaker of milk supper.

OnlyParentsAreReal · 28/10/2017 21:38

7 months

FATEdestiny · 28/10/2017 21:40

About 12-18 months

WishUponAStar88 · 28/10/2017 21:40

Stopped bf at 12months. Ds hated cows milk but tried a cup nightly for about 6months before finally giving up Grin

WeAllHaveWings · 28/10/2017 21:46

Ds(13) still has a glass before bed.

He was bf, stopped at 12 months and switched to Tommee tipee cup, then a non spill cup, switched to a tumbler with straw around 2 1/2 ish.

CountDuckulaTheSqueaky · 28/10/2017 21:49

Mine just gave it up on their own. DS2 has juice before brushing his teeth and DD only drinks water anyway.

FuzzyOwl · 28/10/2017 22:08

MummyInHeel isn’t the advice to stop bottles at a year rather than milk itself?

Tinks15 · 28/10/2017 22:39

Thanks all. DD loves her milk so dont plan to stop she is 2.3 so I should maybe get her off the bottle now though & give to her in a beaker.
I just wasn't sure if there was an 'age' children tended to give up milk before bed.

My 4 year old still has a bottle of milk before bed

delilahbucket · 28/10/2017 22:47

My nine year old still has a glass of milk as part of his night time routine. He stopped the bottle around 15 months.

welshweasel · 28/10/2017 22:54

We stopped bottles at a year but still give a cup of milk before going up to the bath, he's 21 months. He doesn't always drink brilliantly during the day so it's a good way to get more fluid in him. Might start moving it a bit earlier though in preparation for potty training.

Warhammerwidow89 · 30/10/2017 13:20

My nearly 8 year old DS still has a cup of milk at bedtime.

My five year olds still have a cup of milk before bedtime.
