Calling Francophones: How to get French radio stations in Britain?

Dh is trying hard to improve his French. He reads Le Monde a few times a week, but he would like to improve his understanding of spoken French by listening to French radio. We think the station 'France Culture' would be the most useful, but we don't know what the frequency is, or whether it can be picked up by an AM/FM or digital radion in Britain. Can anyone help?

You can listen to French radio on the web, go to the Radio France website .

Yes, the web is great for radios. I also listen to Europe 1 on my normal radio (I think on LW around 180). Can't get good enough reception for any other on there though. He could also subscribe to TV5 (digital channel), around £10 a month, for news, documentaries, games, films, etc, all in French, but not just from France.

Thanks for this. Do we need a Sky subscription for TV5? We can't get cable and have Freeview, not Sky and I would prefer to avoid Sky, if possible.

Mammaya - sorry to sound dumb, but I don't know how to get sound on my PC. I have some speakers but have never managed to get them to work. What software would I need?

My PC is only 18 months old and has a lot of standard software on it from work - would they have been loaded a soundcard as a matter of course?
