I get child tax credits, do I need to declare maintenance loan as well as my adults' dependent grant or is it just the latter? Thanks

Both. If it's a source of income they don't count they will discard it but if it is you could be charged with fraud for not declaring.

Always better to phone and let them know, least there's no over payment then.

@OurMiracle1106 I will declare both then. I am doing it online it isn't listed but it gives me the option in the box so I will put both of them down to cover myself so I know I have been as honest as I can be

Mittens as a rule it's always better to tell them. I highly doubt it would be considered as it's a loan and has to be paid back but always better safe than sorry later on.

@OurMiracle1106 I managed to speak to someone on the HMRC live chat and I only need to declare the adult dependent grant, and disregard the first £300.

That's all good then. Always better safe than sorry. 😊
